What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a condition that affects various mental capabilities, including speech, memory and critical thinking. Before joining Woodlands Care Home, our Home Manager arranges a consultation with the prospective residents and their loved ones. This enables us to understand their individual needs, routines, interests, and preferences. Through a person-centred approach, we create personalised care plans that aim to maintain residents’ independence and dignity, reassuring them that our support is readily available whenever needed.

We prioritise the training and development of our staff, particularly our dementia care team, ensuring they stay updated on the latest advancements in dementia care and support. Our teams possess the expertise to deliver effective care and support to residents with dementia which includes activities, therapies, communication, mobility, medication management, and personal care.

At Woodlands Care Home, our diverse activities programme caters to all residents including both group and individual sessions.
