At Woodlands, one of our greatest priorities is ensuring that our residents can continue to enjoy the hobbies, interests, and pastimes they have loved throughout their lives. We firmly believe that a diagnosis, reduced mobility, or the need to use a wheelchair should never be a barrier to living life to the fullest. With this in mind, we have been working hard to make a wide range of activities accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
We have been busy developing opportunities that allow residents to remain active, socially connected, and involved in the activities they are passionate about. Whether revisiting a lifelong hobby or trying something completely new, there truly is something for everyone.
We have welcomed the Golf Society which continues to grow in popularity, offering residents the chance to enjoy the sport in a relaxed and supportive environment. Through adapted equipment and accessible venues, residents can still experience the enjoyment, skill, and camaraderie that golf brings.

For those who enjoy a more leisurely pace, bowling has provided wonderful opportunities for friendly competition and social interaction. The activity can be adapted to suit individual abilities, ensuring that everyone has the chance to take part and have fun.
One of our more surprising successes has been ice skating. Thanks to specialist support equipment and accessible facilities, residents who may never have imagined returning to the ice have been able to enjoy the thrill and excitement of skating in a safe and supported way. Seeing the smiles and confidence this activity has brought has been truly inspiring.

We have also been delighted to continue our partnership with Cycling Without Age, giving residents the opportunity to experience the fresh air and beautiful scenery of our local area aboard specially designed trishaws. These outings provide not only exercise and stimulation but also valuable opportunities to reconnect with the community and enjoy meaningful conversations along the way.

In addition, dual cycling sessions with Fraserburgh Community Council have been a tremendous success. The adapted cycles allow residents of varying abilities, including wheelchair users, to enjoy the freedom and joy of cycling once again. These experiences help promote physical wellbeing while creating lasting memories and strengthening community connections.

Accessibility remains at the heart of everything we do. All of these activities have been carefully chosen and adapted to ensure they are wheelchair-friendly and inclusive, allowing residents to participate regardless of mobility needs. By removing barriers and focusing on what people can do rather than what they can't, we continue to support independence, confidence, and wellbeing.
The enthusiasm shown by our residents has been fantastic, and it has been wonderful to see so many individuals rediscover old passions, try new experiences, and enjoy meaningful moments with friends, family, and staff. We look forward to expanding these opportunities even further and continuing to ensure that hobbies, recreation, and adventure remain an important part of life at Woodlands.
