Learning Together on World Hand Hygiene Day at Woodlands

Hand Hygiene Day

Residents, staff and families at Woodlands Care Home took part in an engaging and interactive session to mark World Hand Hygiene Day 2026.

The session was delivered by the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership and used special UV lighting to demonstrate how germs can spread and where they can often be missed during handwashing. This hands-on approach made the learning experience both eye-opening and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Residents were actively encouraged to take part, testing their own hand hygiene techniques and seeing the results under UV light. Staff and family members also joined in, making it a shared learning experience across the whole home.

The session was not only informative but also sparked plenty of conversation, with residents sharing thoughts and reflecting on the importance of everyday health practices. Alistair also took part enthusiastically, showing that it is never too early or too late to learn something new and valuable.

This event highlighted Woodlands’ ongoing commitment to health, well-being, and education, ensuring that residents remain engaged, informed, and involved in meaningful experiences.
